Thread starter dts Start date Mar 26, I'm using a wirless router for the PS3 and it was easy getting online at first but haven't been able to get online since yeterday morning as it hasn't been finding the access point. So I'm wanting to buy a booster but are they any good?
And can anyone make any recommendations for decent boosters or are they all about the same? Nobody on here uses a booster? I dont use a booster my netgear has a range of 2km's If you look on ebay there are many boosters available, i think the Linksys version is the best bet.
Although you could buy a wifi aerial but this will give you a range of 5km's so i dont think you want that much reception!!!! I had the same problem as you with the ps3 not detecting an access point. I didn't get a booster but i got this and it works a treat. I have had no connection problems now. Lovely bit of kit. Click to expand Does it matter what kind of wireless router you use it with?
The router we have is a New Link A some kind of non branded router. Would appreciate any insight on the matter. The typical wireless router in a home is on Wireless G, 54mbpsmbps Theoretically you're only going to need a minimum of 1mbit data transfer for downloading and gaming online through the ps3.
I actually have the same gaming bridge on my and it works great but thats in another room and its hard to strip down and test it before buying another one. Still use wired though! And its about 13' away? Hehe, well it started off when wifi was just starting to come out into the market, i read on several sites about boosting signals creating a simple antenna out of a pringles can etc, then i went on to understand about frequency modulation But i would never go back to a wireless booster as theyre too expensive, check out google for some DIY Wifi aerials.
Has anybody else got any ideas on how to boost the wi-fi signal to the PS3? I bought the Belkin gaming adapter as described near the top of this thread but it hasn't done anything at all to improve things.
Something can't be right but I've spent nearly 3 hours wasting my time ringing technical support so need to try something else. RFOM is brilliant for online play but not when ur wireless keeps losing the connection! I would forget wireless and use a pair of homeplugs if i were you. Been using them for over a year now with no problems whatsoever.
Uridium Member. Uridium said:. Just to show the difference in speeds when I had an If anyone has any suggestions or know if it can or cannot be done, I'd appreciate it. I don't normally have a problem with speeds, but I feel the PS4 and XB1 are both a little behind on a few hardware things.
Namely the wifi it is backwards compatible so ppl with old wifi would still be able to use it , and then the hard drive. Both PS4 and XB1 have their own ways of adding extra storage, but it's not enough if you download digital everything which is what both have been pushing for , and I download all games just because the installs are the same, so you will use just as much space anyways, and I have a bad habit of selling me games.
I started to do this on , and now I have over games on that alone. Anyways, it would be really nice to have the speeds of If it were a dongle that I could plug in that would be best because I can switch it to my ps3, ps4, xb1, , whenever i use those consoles. Especially the PS3 since the downloads on that are horrendously slow. But it would also allow downloads on PS4 to be much quicker. Just curious if there is an option to do this triedgoogling. Also, not trying to have a debate about why I might need it or not, I just want to know if it's possible and if so, how do I go about doing it if I can?
If you have a computer that uses I also have EVERY device in my house hooked up via Wifi, it's just too much to use any up close with ethernet I have about 15 devices in my house that use the internet. I am really only asking about PS4 though since this is the PS4 board. If you know any info about the other consoles concerning upgrading the Wifi. I tried it for a little while and it seems to cause more problems than it was worth. Anyways, sorry for the long post, but this is something I would really like to do.
TheTrueNub 6 years ago 2. Unless you decide to open up the console and solder a new NIC in, but even then, the console wouldn't know what to do with it. Jamez 6 years ago 3. I get ridiculously faster speed via ethernet bridge to my PS4. Kino 6 years ago 4. There are lots of ethernet to Wifi bridges out there, just google it. Heck, you can even configure some routers to act as such. G 6 years ago 5. Another member of the Nighthawk family. I got this router and it works great as well. I download a TON of stuff, plus game.
And I just have a lot of my devices on at the same time so it's beneficial to have AC, especially with dual band since it allows your slower stuff to connect, and the stuff that needs more speed can get on teh 5Ghz channel.
I wish It's insane. But once Google Fiber, FiOS and other services are pretty much in most big cities, this stuff won't matter as much. I bought an Ethernet Bridge but it doesn't seem to do much, in fact it's caused more problems than help.
I don't need a range extender as my Nighthawk is in my room where most of my Wifi devices are I count Like I said though I did try an ethernet bridge and didn't notice a huge jump in speed, or even a slight jump. With my XB1 it caused Network errors. I might retry it.
